Welton’s Deli has been shortlisted for the final of Leicestershire Village Shop of the Year 2014, amongst fine competition across the county.
First of all, we’d like to thank Great Bowden for helping us reach the final seven from more than 200 nominations.
In one final push for a chance to win £4,000 in prizes for your local village shop, we are urging your continued support in voting for Welton’s in the annual competition.
Nicky Ransome, owner of Welton’s, said:
“The days of just selling newspapers, sweets and bread and milk have gone. To survive and prosper, you have to respond to the needs of the community you serve.
“That’s what we have tried to do, with our tea room, deli counter, locally-produced goods, dry cleaning and printing and photocopying services. We’re hugely proud to be shortlisted as a finalist.”
Lutterworth-based Cherish Village Shops, a not-for-profit campaign to support and champion rural retailers has organised the contest.
Mr Birchall, who has organised the competition alongside working with Leicestershire County Council to deliver the village shop support scheme, said:
“The mighty response we’ve had with the nominations just demonstrates how much people care about their village shops.
“This competition is about celebrating and rewarding the good work of rural retailers from across Leicestershire.”
Voting runs throughout March. The winner is decided based on the number of Facebook shares and views from the judges, so it’s important that you like, comment and share our post below.
